1. How do I participate in this benefit?

Every YMI benefit member pays $2.00 per month through his Council dues.

2. What is a benefit member?

A benefit member is any Catholic male who joins the YMI organization prior to his 45th birthday.

3. How do my children begin receiving this benefit?

Once the Education Foundation has been notified by either the deceased member’s Council or directly from the widow and the necessary information has been provided, the Foundation will begin sending the checks to the deceased member’s Council who will then forward them on to the widow. (The children may be enrolled in either public or private schools.)

4. How much will my children receive?

Currently, the amount is approximately $20,000 from Kindergarten through 4 years of College. Each child receives a specific amount depending on the grade level.

 5.  What types of contributions can be made?

+ Regular contribution to honor living relative or friend for any special occasion (i.e. birthday, graduation, wedding, promotion, thank you, etc)

+ Life time gifts to the endowment fund.

+ Gifts at the death of a relative or friend.

+ Gifts in memory of a deceased relative or friend.

6. Is this the only benefit provided by this foundation?

No.  Currently, there are two other programs in place funded by the Education Foundation.  The first one is the Matching Funds Program.  Any Council may participate each year by contributing up to $500 into the program. The Foundation will match that amount and send it to the Council to be used to provide scholarships sponsored by that Council.  The Council determines the criteria necessary for receiving a scholarship.

The second one is a College Scholarship of $2000.  Any living YMI member, their children, or grandchildren may request a form and provide the necessary documents and submit this information prior to the deadline set by the Foundation.
