The Seminarian Educational Foundation of the Young Men’s Institute
Our History
The Seminarian Educational Foundation was incorporated on February 1 2000, for the express purpose of receiving charitable gifts, donations, and bequests to support annually the educational costs of seminarians. Prior to this incorporation, this was a fund within the Young Men’s Institute and had been in existence since 1970.
Once sufficient funds had been built, the Young Men’s Institute decided to turn this fund into a fully tax deductible foundation with a defined charter and by-laws. After all of the appropriate ground work had been established, letters were sent to the Internal Revenue Service and the California Franchise Tax Board for approval as a tax-exempt organization.
The Foundation’s Board of Directors is composed of respected YMI members whose professions encompass the legal, inventment, and administrative disciplines. They are elected from the YMI membership at large. The Directors manage the funds.
Our Purpose
The Seminarian Educational Foundation through your donations, will aid in providing support for the seminarians in dioceses where a YMI Council exists.
